This week was way great! One of our investigators Hermano Justino got baptized on Friday and then confirmed on Sunday! He is an abuelito and so great! He always calls us his granddaughters. He has been attending church for more a less a year. It is such a blessing to know him.
Also, we had a special experience this week. One of our appointments fell through so we were contacting nearby and we met an Hermana named Sonia. We were talking to her and she let us in. She told us that she never lets people representing churches in, but something inside her told her to let us in! She is so special. Her husband passed away a few years ago, and we got to share with her the hope that she can see him again, and that through this gospel families can be for forever. It is an amazing experience to see Lord´s hand in peoples lives. I know that our Heavenly Father knows us perfectly and the experiences we need.
I learned how to make enchiladas this week! They´re not the same as Mexican enchiladas. Basically, you make a tortilla, put a mix of rice and meat in the middle and then fold it in half, seal the edges, and then fry it. They are so good! We took pictures, but both of our cameras are dead so I will have to send them later.
I thought that this week I´d share some fun culture facts:
1) In every meal there is either rice, beans, or platanos. Or all three. But they are delicious so I don´t mind. Also, there are a ton of ways to cook platanos. I never knew.
2) Every one points a things by sticking their lips out
3) To greet other girls, people kiss on the cheek
4) They sell drinks and smoothies and a type of ice cream in sandwich bags (the kind that need ties to close). To drink it, you can use a straw or just bite the corner.
I love this gospel and the chance I have to share what brings me such joy. Faith is action. That is one lesson that I learn over and over again and that is so true. I love you all!
Hermana Lee
